This technology uses small anonymous 'databit' cookies to identify the "session" of each visitor who uses a certain few of SpiderMonkey's search features. An example is the Pre-processed Hypertext Protocol (PHP, a server-side, cross-platform, HTML-embedded scripting language). Our PHP engine sets session-limited cookies to help guide you through your session. Why? The programming for Spider Monkey uses a large number of processes and programme modules. Your search session uses many resources across a number of server computers: resources such as database engines (SQL), the PHP engine, the HTTP Daemon (web page server), routers and more. By using anonymous session cookies we are able to keep users separate from each other and to distinguish separate connections to the various resources without losing anybody's information or giving the answer for your search to someone else by mistake. :o)

A session cookie contains a unique number and letter value that identifies a particular session, but contains no personal identifying values or information. Session cookies are automatically deleted from memory when the visitor ends a session by closing the browser. These are not stored permanently on the visitor's computer, nor ours.

Spider Monkey's MP3 Search is the one resource on this site which does store a cookie on your computer. Your nickname. We keep no record of it, but when you revisit SpiderMonkey MP3 Search your cookie announces who you are and we can spell out your Nickname on the page and give you a friendly welcome. Most of the visitor's to this resource are repeat guests, so it is kind of a fun thing, not ever used for any other purpose.

A cookie having no personal identification is set on your computer when you login to the resource that searches our MP3 collection. It contains your "Nickname". That "Nickname" can be anything of your choosing and does not have to be your personal name, just whatever you want to see displayed each time you visit. An example would be "Britney Fan", or another one could be "U2-4-Me" if you are a U2 fan. No personal information is requested from you.

We only retain this information for the specific session. We do not store this cookie or any of its data on our computers, only on yours. It is your key to get back in and be recognized and counted. No information is collected by us from this cookie. We need this cookie to count users who are visiting the download site as there is a limit set on the number of people who can be downloading files at the same time. When the limit is reached based on the number of logged in repeat visitors (our server keeps track of you by your cookie), others are turned away until the total number of visitors drops below the unacceptable limit.
